Telemetry & Data Acquisition Systems
For many applications, short-range telemetry is required because a sensor is mounted on a rotating shaft making physical connection all but impossible. In addition extreme speed, temperature, vibration, or electromagnetic noise may interfere with conventional means of data transmission. A typical application for Datatel telemetry is the testing and monitoring of gas turbines and aircraft engines. RPM speeds are often high and the environment in which the sensors have to operate is extreme. These harsh environments are also found in our automotive applications where sensors are immersed in oil or are mounted next to hot exhaust pipes, an example of this would be a small turbo charger spinning at speeds in excess of 160,000 Rpm or a hybrid vehicle gearbox spinning at high speed close & permanent magnet motors.
