Cycling Training
Team GB Paralympic cycling tandem start filmed
to analyse technique, taken at 500fps with shutter open. Filmed with no
additional lighting other than stadium lighting, hence the flicker seen.
Team GB cyclist filmed to analyse finish
technique, taken at 1,000fps with open shutter. Filmed with no

Micro injection moulding of thermo plastic – shot
at 40,000fps with 3us shutter. Used special C-mount lens with built-in
beam combiner for laser illumination. Image resolution was 240 x 80
pixels
Simulated pedestrian road crash tests, taken at an old airfield in the UK.
These were used to show Police Traffic Accident investigators what happens
in a typical car vs pedestrian impact.
Lighting is poor as the clouds came
over.

Taken with K5 camera at 2000fps with 1/50,000th second shutter.
These images are of a Ford Taurus hitting a steel simulation of a telephone
pole at again 62 MPH. These images are of off board crash tests. They were
taken at the Federal Highway Administration in Langley Virginia. All impacts
are at 62 MPH (100KPH) There are three separate crashes each with at least 2
simultaneous views.
This shot uses the K4 colour at 6000 fps and yes you read it right
1/200,000 shutter. This is a jet engine fuel injector operating at both
low and high flow conditions. The shot could have been shuttered even
faster had a monochrome unit been used.
Yet another simultaneous view with the Rx head at 1000fps looking at a child
safety seat. The belts are marked to indicate the spooling effect on the
seat belt.
These shots were with the K3 at 1000fps. You will see that by using the
correct optics small high speed process can be accurately viewed. In this
case the attachment of the wire bonds between and Integrated Circuit and the

This shot used an fx 6000 colour at 8000fps and a single HMI light. The shot
was tight so the lighting does have some shadowing. The belt is connecting
the crankshaft to the dry sump oil pump. The engine is turning in excess of
9000 rpm!! If you look closely you can almost read the logo on the rear
water pump belt. If it had just a little more shutter and light. You will
also notice that the oil pump belt is just about to come off at this speed.
