AV-8B “Night attack” HUD camera - Photo-Sonics
Key Features
- Two piece camera.
- Night attack version of the AV-8B Harrier.
- The periscope is physically separated from the electronic unit and connected by a flat ribbon cable.
- For either the day or night versions, no
changes were made to the following:
Mechanical mounting provisions
Electrical input connector pins
- The prime advantage of this system is that it eliminates the optical periscope on both day and night attack version cameras.
- The new periscope is attached on top the control panel and looks directly through the combining glass of the HUD.
- The resolution of the system is significantly improved due to the elimination of the optical periscope assemblies.
- This system will provide target definition with slant range of 5,000-6,000ft.
- The electronics, lenses, and all other parts of the system are completely interchangeable for the day and night attack version cameras.
